SAUVIGNON BLANC 2022 (X6)

R 960.00

Sold by case: (R160 X 6)

Crisp with a refreshing minerality, gently softened by light fruity flavours. A lively and full bodied Sauvignon Blanc that will pair well with your favourite dishes!

We make the Sauvignon from two slopes:  A west-facing slope in rich soil, that adds lots of ripe tropical flavours and a citrus backbone, and an east-facing slope on decomposed granite and clay soils, that produces really lean, elegant wine, with lots of minerality, that we part age in barrel.

The Semillon is grown on the west slope, and we get really textured, round wine from these grapes, which helps to soften the Sauvignon Blanc, and add some more dimension. The final wine is an elegant, concentrated Sauvignon Blanc, poised between ripe tropical summer flavours, and a green, mineral herbaceousness. The acidity is perfectly balanced, and the wine is made to be drunk within one to three years after bottling.

Description:
This was a beautiful vintage, with a cold winter, but then warm sunny Summer, which resulted in a fruitier wine than normal.

DON’S RESERVE 2022 (X6)

R 1,782.00

Sold by case: (R297 X 6)

Don’s Reserve is a classic Constantia blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, displaying the typical regional quality of freshness and purity, with tension and minerality. Tones of elderflower, white peach and grapefruit abound on the palate, while the barrel ageing adds a smooth, almost rich complexity.

Serious Sauvignon Blanc likes granite and clay soils, and we have the perfect site, tucked away at the end of the farm. This east-facing block doesn’t get many sunlight hours and remains cool for the entire day. The wine made from this terroir is extremely linear. The Semillon on the other hand is on one of the warmer spots on the farm, and grown on rich, brown shale soil, producing a wine of opulence.

The 2 styles of wine, when aged in French oak barrels, complement each other perfectly, creating a wine where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

We believe that this is the ultimate expression of a Constantia white wine. Enjoy now till 2030.

Free SO2: 26 mg/l

Description:
The Sauvignon Blanc comes from a small portion of our only East facing block, grown in decomposed granite and clay soil, which produces a linear style of wine tasting primarily of black currant leaf, elderflower and grapefruit.  The Semillon, grown on rich shale soils and left till late in the season to maximise the ripeness, adds a rich mouthfeel to the wine, and flavours of white peach.

The wine was aged in selected first and second fill 500 liter French Oak barrels, to add some mid palate, while respecting the typical Constantia quality of freshness, purity, and minerality.
